Langtang, Gosainkunda & Helambu
(17 Days, Lodges/ Hotels)
| Densely–forested valleys, holy
mountain lakes and great white peaks between
Kathmandu and the Tibetan Border |
The
Langtang Valley and Helambu lie closer to Kathmandu than
other trekking region, and are generally less trekked
than the Annapurnas or Everest region. At the end of
monsoon there are superbly clear views of the great
peaks of Langtang Lirung (&246m.) which dominates the
upper Langtang Valley and straddles the Tibetan border;
in spring time this is an ideal route for those
interested in the birds and flowers of Nepal. Both
seasons allow you to reach the glaciers below Langtang
Lirung and climb Tserko Ri for some magnificent
panoramas of these great white peaks. Our return route
takes us past the holy lakes of Gosain Kunda, an
important place of pilgrimage, and over high pass that
brings us to the gentler region of Helambu and finally
to the edge of Kathmandu itself.
