High Passes of Everest
(24 Days, Camping/Hotels)
| Three high passes and five superb
viewpoints make this perhaps the ultimate Everest
circuit |
This
route starts from the famous Khumbu valley, home of the
Sherpa people, amongst whose monasteries and settlements
we acclimatize before attempting a demanding crossing of
three high passes and climbing to five separate view
points. The first pass, the Kongma La, offers some of
the finest close-up views of the great Lhotse/Nuptse
wall, while the Khumbu glacier and Kala Pattar give us
classic views of Everest. Crossing the next pass, the
Cho La, we enter the remote Gokyo valley to the west.
Here a string of glacial lakes are set like pearls in a
beautiful high-altitude wilderness dominated by the
great peaks of Cho Oyu (8153m.) and Gyachungkang
(7922m.) on the borders of Tibet. The last pass is still
virtually un-trekked and offers an alternative route
back to Lukla. With nearly all of the walking above
3600m.This treks is reccomended for experience trekkers
due to it's high altitude but it has high magnificiant
views with several highest peaks in the world.
