Everest Base Camp & Gokyo Lake
(22 Days, Camping/Hotels)
| Thyangboche, Gokyo and the classic southern
approach to the world's highest peak. |
This
alpine trekking itinerary is designed to discover the heart of Sherpa Land –
Namche bazaar and Thyangboche monastery. The trekking will lead you to the
Gokyo Valley and the glacial lakes under the great peak of Gokyo Ri (5360m.)
and Cho Oyu (8153m.). After reaching to Gokyo, you can climb the Gokyo Ri
for a marvelous view of Everest and the rest of this high mountain
wilderness. We rejoin the classic route to Everest Case Camp used by all the
great climbing parties when attempting the peak from the Nepalese side.
There is ample time for acclimatization, and at the higher altitudes we are
able to get well away from the most trekked areas. Our aim is to visit the
Everest Base Camp 5245 meter area on the Khumbu Glacier, as well as climbing
Kala Pattar 5545 meter, which offers another fabulous view of Mt. Everest
along with a host of other great peaks.
